🎙️ In this episode of the Landmark Difference Makers Podcast, we explore the extraordinary vision and impact of Jerrie Ueberle, founder of the World Academy for the Future of Women. Jerrie is a trailblazer in women’s leadership, dedicating her life to fostering global gender equality and empowering women to become bold, action-driven leaders.
The World Academy: A Bold Leadership Initiative
The World Academy for the Future of Women is a daring leadership program designed to prepare women for leadership roles on campus, in their communities, and on the global stage. The Academy, which operates in seven countries—including Kenya, Uganda, and India—offers a transformative experience where women discover their passions, define their purpose, and create sustainable change.
Participants commit to 8–10 hours per week of rigorous training, including seminars, coaching, and project implementation. Each woman leads a project aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring their leadership has a measurable impact. Jerrie emphasizes that the program is not about teaching leadership content; it’s about driving action. “We don’t put stuff in or pull stuff out,” she explains. “We challenge them to act on the future they want to create.”
Empowering Generations of Leaders
One of the Academy’s unique elements is its inclusion of families. Participants are encouraged to bring their mothers to events, bridging generational divides and inspiring parents to support their daughters’ ambitions. For many women, the Academy is the first place they realize their choices can shape their futures.
Jerrie’s commitment to action extends to the facilitators as well. These leaders travel to Academy sites worldwide, often at their own expense, to deliver transformational training. “You don’t have to be a millionaire to make a difference,” Jerrie shares, highlighting the creative ways facilitators fund their missions.
The Power of Collaboration
Jerrie believes that meaningful change requires both men and women at the decision-making table. This vision inspired the creation of a “Men’s Academy for the Future of Women,” empowering men to advocate for gender equality and support women’s leadership. Men who participate often draw inspiration from their own families, seeking to honor and uplift the women in their lives.
A Legacy of Possibility
Jerrie’s journey began with Landmark in the 1970s, where she embraced the possibility of creating a world that works for everyone. Her commitment to action and inclusion has shaped the Academy into a global force for transformation. As she reflects on her legacy, Jerrie hopes to be remembered as someone who widened people’s perspectives and created opportunities for growth. “What I want people to say about me,” she shares, “is that I allowed them the opportunity to grow.”
