ASE promotes the development of social enterprises, business ventures which address social problems. Social enterprises are more-than-profit businesses that use blended-value models to create a revenue-generating business with a social-value generating element.
Although our work to date has been focused on not-for-profit organizations, including churches, our programs are designed to serve a broad range of social entrepreneurs.
Our core program is the Social Enterprise Academy, which provides training and mentoring, as well as the opportunity to compete in a venture competition. Since ASE began, working with a variety of strategic partners, ASE has produced over two thirty-two Social Enterprise Academies. The unique program has expanded capacity for over 300 social entrepreneurs, generating over $10 million dollars in new investment and earned income streams. In post-program evaluation reports, 65% of the participants generated new revenue within a year of participating and 94% said that their participation in the Academy had a valuable and significant impact on the way that they manage their business.

Special Spectators is a nonprofit organization profoundly impacting the lives of seriously ill children and their family by creating memorable VIP all-access game day experiences at sporting events across the United States. Since 2002, we've hosted over 10,000 patients, parents and siblings at nearly 500 games - mostly college football.
In collaboration with over 40 of the biggest programs in the country, we create inspiring and memorable experiences for kids battling cancer, awaiting organ transplants and other life-threatening illnesses.
We host the ultimate Saturday experience including exclusive hospitality areas visited by student-athletes, cheerleaders, mascots and marching bands; locker room tours; meeting coaches & players; and a moving stadium announcement.
Imagine a small group of seriously ill kids standing on the field in a packed stadium, being introduced to fans resulting in one of the loudest standing ovations of the season.
We enhance grassroots rugby coaches and volunteers' understanding of trauma, so that they are more skilled in bringing adversity-experienced communities into the rugby family.
We reduce barriers such as arranging transport to clubs, sourcing kit and equipment and subscriptions, as well as connecting families with community services such as the police, social services, NHS and outreach programmes.
We provide a variety of rugby experiences in community settings, including local schools, to get young people active and excited about playing the sport. Working with Premiership rugby foundations like Bristol Bears, Sale Sharks, Northampton Saints, Bath Rugby, Scarlets Rugby, Harlequins Foundation and many more.
We consider ourselves a catalyst for social change; we increase participation among diverse groups, including those with additional needs, marginalised racial and ethnic backgrounds, and young people exposed to violence.
We make it possible for young people and families to overcome the impact of childhood or community adversity through play, relationships and the feeling of belonging.
We are looking for national and/or local sponsors, so if your company’s CSR budget aligns with the work we are doing or if you are an individual who wants to help make a difference, please get in touch.

The inspiration for United Rocks began with Brian and Mariana Steelsmith’s desire to build a supportive, empowering community for their son, Jake, who has Down syndrome. They dreamed of creating a safe and inclusive community where he could thrive, be accepted, and be respected for who he is.
Driven by a vision of a world where individuals with disabilities are offered the same opportunities as everyone else, they turned to what they knew best: rock climbing. Having supported Jake’s brother, Gabriel, in the climbing community, they saw firsthand how the sport builds confidence, strength, and connection. This inspired them to form climbing teams for kids and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, health challenges, and behavioral differences.
In November 2021, the first United Rocks Climbing Team was born, bringing together five families who believed in the power of our mission. Today, United Rocks proudly supports over 400 families across the U.S.
Thank you for joining our team and believing in our vision. Together, we are building a future of inclusion—creating communities where individuals of all abilities can lead healthy, successful, and fulfilling lives.
